IROCOH: MAGENTA PROCESS

Color, Color & MORE Color. IROCOH's surface designs transport me to a hot Southwest Sunset. Although the studio is based in Brooklyn, the influences are distinctly Southern Californian. Reintepreting geometric shapes with striking saturated hues, the textiles are modern and retro. Paper cuts and line drawings construct the richly textured patterns. These color combinations evoke modern Rothkos: shades of orange, marigold, tangerine and lavender contrast against bright magenta. The tote bags - with their sherbert stripes - are especially yummy.

According to Alisa, "The name IROCOH (pronounced Eee Ro Koh) came from a reverse reading of the Japanese word "HOKORI" which means both "Pride" and "Dust." The word "IRO" also means "Color" in Japanese. Each work is designed with the intention of it being a colorful long-lasting design, so people can use it for a long time with pride, and until it becomes dust."
