YERBA BUENA: KALEIDOSCOPIC COLOR
Spring must be around the corner, because lately I've found myself lusting, craving and aching for even more color. Beatriz's work on the exterior of the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts provided brilliantly colored rays even in the dead of the San Francisco foggy winter.
Beatriz's Brazilian roots proudly display themselves in her work. Bright colors, whimsical geometric shapes and playful compositions are all inspired by her homeland.
According to the Yerba Buena Website, "Milhazes has blanketed the windows of the lobby's two-story south wall with kaleidoscopic forms cut from translucent colored vinyl. The visitor thinks immediately of stained glass, but Milhazes' jubilance is decidedly secular, with motifs drawn from package design and other pop cultural sources."
She simply makes me smile.
