MOCA: WINDY WALLPAPER
Digital projections are always cool, but two story digital projections on 3 surrounding walls mimicking a "live" wallpaper are simply spectacular. In Jennifer Steinkamp's Madame Curie, the walls are alive with billowing blossoming trees. The visitor is emerssed in a digital "Alice in Wonderland" of magical blooms. According to MOCA, The seven-channel projection engages the architecture of the space using seven synchronized projections onto three walls of the 4,500-square-foot gallery." The enveloping panoramic work activates a field of moving flowers and flowering trees into a contemporaray site specific phenomenon.
