BELL JAR: BOLD SOUTHWEST
San Francisco's Valencia Street has flourished in recent years. More and more unique boutiques are opening and sharing their local and global wares. The Bell Jar - with its "Gorgeous Little Things" - enticed me in with its bold wallpaper and window display. The home and fashion store has an Art Deco meets Rustic Cabin sensibility, and most of the goods share information about their local designers. Nevertheless, the best part of the visit was almost overlooked until the Store Associate mentioned their Gallery Space. The current show - Gold Rush Marketplace - presents an eclectic collection of Gold Rush and Geode inspired goods. Historical colors and patterns transform into modern interpretations of Southwest Nostalgia. Navajo blankets turn into Silkscreens and Tribal ornaments become upcycled plastic pillows.
