KATHERINE RALLY: BOLD STUDIO
I am super excited to share the vibrant textiles of Katherine Rally again and feature them as BigBrightBold Artists. Check out last year’s features here, here, and here.
Katherine and Rally Dupps decided to turn their love of travel and textiles into a life of living and working in abroad. With a baby and toddler in tow, they began their new life in Bali where they started Katherine Rally Textiles, designing and producing a vibrant and bold line of fabrics and pillows.
Everything is handmade through the process of batik at their workshop by local artisans. This ancient technique has been passed down through generations but today Katherine Rally Textiles gives it a modern twist with fresh, bold motifs and colors. This new look for batik has been well received since their first pattern and color designs debuted three years ago. They now have over 35 patterns and 25 different colors, including a line of neutrals.
This year, after spending the holidays in India, Katherine and Rally are introducing complex designs like “Alsisar” (named after a village in Rajasthan) and “Mu” (they just like the way it sounds). They have also gotten back to the basics with “Barcelona” which is simply a new twist on small dots. Also in the mix are fresh new colors like “apple martini green” and a gorgeous aqua marine inspired by the color of the Indonesian coral seas.
Check out these new additions on their website.
