TOPKAPI PALACE: HAREM
The Topkapi Palace was our first stop on our first day, and it remained one of my favorite sites. The palace was was the primary residence of the Ottoman Sultans for approximately 400 years (1465-1856).
I must admit that I spent almost an hour in the first room of the Topkapi Harem. I photographed every wall a few times, no tile left unturned. Somehow, this room remained my favorite out of the grand palace. The beauty of the whole room covered in Iznik tiles was quite the site to behind. Every wall was different, and every tile was slightly different. I can't even imagine how many artists it took to cover so much area with one of a kind pieces.
