Alisa is currently involved with several graphic design collaborations, as well as working as a textile designer at Designtex. The multidisciplinary designer studied graphic design at CalArts, and textile design at Tama Art University in Tokyo, Japan. In pursuing a master’s degree at Tama Art University, Alisa investigated the reasons some textile designs withstand the test of time. To find the essence of what is the key to “timeless design," she focused on revisiting “basic patterns" in a creative way.
During her studies, Alisa started her own textile brand called IROCOH. The name IROCOH (pronounced Eee Ro Koh) came from a reverse reading of the Japanese word "HOKORI" which means both "Pride" and "Dust". The word "IRO" also means "Color" in Japanese. Each work is designed with the intention of it being a colorful long-lasting design, so people can use it for a long time with pride, and until it becomes dust.
