GETTY: FRAMING VIEWS
Thought it would be a good change of pace to feature something other than big, bright, and bold shops this week. The Getty has always been one of my favorite icons of Los Angeles. Seeing the museum is such an incredible escape from the daily hustle and bustle, but it's easy to forget to visit when one lives here. It always takes out of town guests to make me realize how lucky we are to live in a city with so many inspiring monuments.
Last Saturday, we made the annual trek to the museum, parked our cars (Barely got in though, as it must be the #1 spot for tons of tourists. The parking lots were completely full) and road the tram up the hill. The motivation for the visit was the closing of the Los Angeles Overdrive exhibition. But, whenever I visit the museum, I spend way more time outside in the gardens enjoying the stellar views, than inside the galleries. This time was no exception, and we barely made it to the gallery with an hour to spare. The Architecture exhibit was definitely comprehensive and inspiring, very much worth the trip. But, nothing beats strolling Robert Irwin's gardens and soaking up the sun.
