LOVING LILLY: ALL THE RAGE
Located at the Palos Verdes Art Center, the Lilly show is "quite the party." The retrospective includes 150 items from the collection of Miami-based vintage clothing collector Keni Valenti. There's everything from original 1950s Lilly shifts to groovy 1970s pantsuits, menswear, a Lilly Pulitzer Monopoly game and even a wild, sequined and feathered costume the designer wore to her son's birthday party.
According to the exhibition overview, "Like sunny days, healthy babies and shiny white teeth, Lilly’s prints and prismatic colors became instantly recognizable symbols of the American good life. But now thanks to Keni Valenti, we get to see Lilly anew. This force of fashion has mixed one part 1960s, two parts 1970s, added a dash of daring 1980s and stirred. But beware - he’s concocted a very potent cocktail indeed."
