NHM: ART OF NATURE
Sometimes (actually, usually) the best discoveries happen quite unexpectedly. We had just toured the space shuttle and the had less than an hour to visit the Natural History Museum. I wanted to show my dad a few of the next exhibits that the Natural History Museum recently finished. We ran through the Dinosaur hall, the City of LA exhibit and the outside gardens. We had less than 15 minutes left when we stumbled into the newly opened Nature Lab. And, wow, did it impress.
The content of the Nature Lab showcases Los Angeles wildlife, and the information is conveyed through diverse, interactive exhibits. Live animals are mixed with diagrams, videos, drawings, and art to create an eclectic exhibit about an eclectic city. I love how the museum hired illustrators to visually portray the Angelenos' stories.
Believing that "We are all Scientists," the exhibit claims that "Los Angeles is a wildlife hotspot. With the indoor Nature Lab and outdoor Nature Gardens, we will be able to more fully explore the nature all around us. Visitors can see what we have discovered so far, or discover something themselves!"
