EMILY RICKARD FINE ART

A few more shots from Emily Rickard's gorgeous booth.

Emily studied fine art and art history at the Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio and currently lives in Los Angeles. According to Emily, "My love of color is conveyed through my vibrant abstract paintings and mixed media works. A visual expression of joy, my work blends a bright Pop art palette with aesthetics of Abstract Expressionism and a studied appreciation for composition. I love to make art that makes people smile and I strongly believe that living with beautiful art makes for happier people! It will brighten your space and add a pop of color to your home."

I definitely agree!

ETSY POP UP: EMILY RICKARD

There were many bright and bold objects at last weekend's Etsy pop Up Shop, but Emily Rickard's paintings were even more yummy than the colorful fonuts! Emily mentioned her painting teacher told her to move to California, and I couldn't agree more. The Ohio transplant has a definite Socal Style. I love her use of brushtrokes and pop colors.

FONUTS: BRIGHT EATS

Fonuts has definitely made the list of the "whose who"of Los Angeles desserts. It offers very creative flavors, even a few gluten free varieties, that are baked not fried. West Elm's South African patterned dishware served as a perfect complement to the colorful pastries. The fonuts at West Elm's pop up shop were almost too pretty to eat, but we managed!

According to Zagat,"There are just a few counter seats at Fônuts, a grab-and-go ‘donut’ shop in Mid-City, but that hasn’t kept fans from lining up for these new takes on the humble round treat from pastry master Waylynn Lucas; flavor choices for the baked-not-fried confections range from banana chocolate and strawberry buttermilk to rosemary olive oil and chorizo cheddar."

WEST ELM POP UP: FONUTS

The Artists at West Elm's Pop Up shop were inspiring, but it was the brightly colored, sprinkled and glazed Fonuts that took center stage. As soon as we entered the lively store, we were pleasantly greeted by friendly hostesses carrying trays of the pop colored pastries. I had to refrain from eating more than one, as the cute size and fun colors made them hard to resist. All the flavors looked delicious - blueberry, lemon, chocolate, strawberry - and it was definitely hard to choose only one. The Lemon  won, but evan as I look at these photos, I think I have to pay Fonuts a visit soon!
